Gunpowder Green Tea loose leaf

We have carefully selected this pinhead gunpowder green tea from China. Each leaf has been individually rolled into tightly formed pellets that have the appearance of gunpowder – hence the name.

Our Gunpowder tea is robust and full-bodied so you really only need a little per serving. As it brews, each of the leaves unfurls and produces an almost golden amber liquor. The taste is slightly stronger than other green teas due to the processing and the flavour being ‘locked’ into the pellets. The astringent flavour, slightly tangy citrus notes, and mild smoky undertones, are surrounded by a halo of earthy nuttiness.

As mentioned, you don’t need a lot per serving. Use approximately 2 grams per serving (one level teaspoon). Use fresh water and aim for a temperature of 80°C. If you don’t have a fancy kettle then wait a couple of minutes after the water has boiled. Brew for between 2 – 3 mins. To increase the strength add a little more tea.
